1. Network design:
- Instruments performing preliminary analysis of interferences, the geological analysis of the terrain and the preliminary analysis of national zooning maps.
- Fluid dynamics calculation tools based on the use of two/three-dimensional models to estimate the needs of users, identify load peaks and size components. Includes validation with field data and failure simulations.
- Technologies for identifying and tracking geo-referenced networks through underground and above-ground scanning, creating virtual maps useful for design.
- Network design software that allows design data to be cross-refenced with terrain, existing structures, or other relevant information.
2. Site monitoring and safety
- Introduction of monitoring systems and tools to ensure field operators' safety;
- Integration of sensors and controls for real-time supervision and timely anomaly or dangerous situations identification;
- Implementation of collaborative systems ensuring adherence to the work plan, cost management, resource optimization, and integration of authorization documentation, permits, and subcontracting requests throughout all construction phases.
3. Network construction:
Adoption of innovative and sustainable methods for the construction of networks, promoting the adoption of advanced technologies to reduce time and costs, as well as law-impact construction machinery, during the following phases:
- Excavation: researching new excavation methods (trench or trenchless);
- Installation: new piping materials, monitoring solutions and detection of the pipelines laid; new methods of laying both for new piping poses and for the replacement of existing ones;
- Backfilling: utilization of new materials and methodologies;
- Restoration: utilization of new materials and methodologies;
- Underwater installation: implementing new methodologies for underwater pipeline laying.
4. PROJECT COMPLETION AND WASTE MANAGEMENT:
- Waste management and disposal tools estimating waste quantity and type;
- In situ soil and rock contamination level analysis systems to assess whether or not they can be reused for earthworks;
- Circular economy solutions allowing the use of recycled materials and giving a second life to site waste, direct and indirect waste both, including PPE and safety equipment.
5. NETWORK MAINTENANCE:
- Introduction of preventive and predictive strategies using remote inspection tools to monitor and evaluate networks status, identifying areas requiring remediation or replacement. Seeking no-dig solutions to rehabilitate pipelines and extend their service life.
- Implementation of data analysis solutions to extract information useful for network optimization and performance improvement.
- Application of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and iot, based on field data, to optimize operations, accelerate the digitalization of networks and efficiently manage information.
