The initiative

NewGen Construction Site is part of the "Ideas 4 Italgas" program, through which we aim to promote innovation and the search for solutions and technologies that enable the creation of a sustainable construction site.

We want to shape the future now by promoting innovative and sustainable scenarios with the goal of creating the construction site of the future that integrates technical, environmental, and social aspects.

Access to the initiative is open to any working group consisting of two or more individuals who have a winning idea to propose to us, as well as to companies established as start-ups and SMEs.

Focus areas

NETWORK
DESIGN

  • Integrated tools for preliminary analysis and georeferencing of networks;
  • Fluid dynamics calculation to estimate demand and simulate different operating configurations and software for design;
  • Scanning technologies to map underground networks.

    • SITE MONITORING
    AND SAFETY

  • Implementation of advanced monitoring systems for field operators' safety and remote supervision;
  • Integration of sensors for real-time anomaly detection;
  • Systems for site management and compliance, optimizing resources and costs.

    CONSTRUCTION

  • Adoption of innovative and sustainable methods for construction of gas distribution networks, including excavation, laying, backfilling, restoration, and underwater installation.

    AND WASTE MANAGEMENT

  • Tools for waste management and disposal;
  • In situ analysis systems of the level of contamination of land and rocks;
  • Circular economy solutions for recycling construction site waste.

  • Implementation of preventive and predictive strategies through remote inspection and/or AI and IoT technologies to monitor network status, identify areas for remediation or replacement, and enhance Knowledge Management.

    How to participate

    Be a promoter of the future: share your innovative vision with us!
    Submit your idea or project related to one of the initiative's themes by 06/05/2024. Click "Send your proposal" and access the dedicated form.

    The application should include the proponent's information, a brief description of the proposal, its technical development, delivery timelines, and a cost-benefit analysis.
    The collection of proposals will be entirely managed on the platform.

    Collection and Acceptance of Applications

    Participants have the opportunity to submit their idea, proposal, or project by completing the dedicated application form.
    The deadline for proposal submission is set for 11:59 PM on May 6th.

    BY JUNE 2024

    Evaluation and Selection of Winners

    The Evaluation Committee will review the ideas, proposals, and projects within the established deadline, determining the selection or non-selection. This committee consists of representatives from Italgas and representatives from I3P. The Jury tasked with selecting the winners is composed of representatives from Italgas, including the Open Innovation team.

    The initiative "Ideas4Italgas: Cantiere del Futuro" is realized in collaboration with I3P - Incubator of Politecnico di Torino. I3P supports the creation and development of innovative startups with high technological intensity and growth potential, founded both by university researchers and students, and by external entrepreneurs, providing strategic consulting services, coaching, mentoring, fundraising support and workspaces. The mission of the Incubator of the Polytechnic of Turin is to support the ecosystem of entrepreneurship, with the aim of generating economic development and employment in innovative industrial supply chains.

    FAQs

    Working groups of 2 or more people, start-ups and SMEs and innovative companies can participate in the initiative.

    The focus areas of the initiative are: Network design, Site monitoring, Network construction, End of works and waste management, Network maintenance. Find out more by reading the rules.

    You can submit your idea by filling out the participation form by 23:59 pm CET of 6 May 2024.

    The main idea selection criteria refer to: feasibility of the solution, impact of the solution and priorities for Italgas.

    There is no maximum number of ideas, projects or proposals.

    Yes, it is possible to save the data entered and complete the participation form at another time, leaving the compilation in a "draft" state. Ideas should be submitted no later than 23:59 pm CET on 6 May 2024.

    No, once the idea has been sent, it will no longer be possible to modify the data on the participation form.

    The Evaluation Committee will evaluate it and decide on its possible selection for a targeted study with the possibility of accessing a co-development and/or experimentation path through the support of expert employees of Italgas.

    The initiative will end in June 2024 with the award ceremony of the winners.

    The subjects who have nominated suitable projects or ideas, which meet the needs of Italgas and I3P, may be contacted for a Proof-of-Concept by Italgas and/or an Incubation Path in I3P lasting 6 months.
